New South African Visa Requirements for NZ Passport Holders

    Effective 16 January 2017, all New Zealand passport holders require a visa when travelling to South Africa.  Visas (Single & Multi-Entry) must be applied for in person at VFS Global’s office’s in Wellington or Auckland – this is a company contracted to the South African Government to accept South African visa applications.     • Processing time is 5 to 7 working days from receipt of application if application is complete, but due to the current back log at South African High Commission, processing time may take 15-20 working days. Apply no more 90 days prior to entry. The visa cost is NZD$95 plus VFS Global’s $86 processing fee, per person.
    • New Zealand passport holders do not need to apply for a Transit Visa if transiting through OR Tambo International Airport, Lanseria, Cape Town or King Shaka airports and if not clearing immigration or customs. New Zealand passport holders will require a Transit Visa if transiting through any other South African Port/Border Post.
