Egypt and Jordan

    Experience the blend of the best of Roman, Egyptian and Nabatean civilisations in this journey through Egypt and Jordan.  Be met prior to immigration by your local representative who will assist you with fast-tracked visa and customs clearance.  Begin in Cairo with the Pyramids of Giza, before cruising on the fabulous Nile River.  Explore the temples of Karnak and Luxor, the burial grounds of the Valley of the Kings and Howard Carter’s House.  Continue to Jordan and be transported to Lawrence of Arabia’s Wadi Rum.  Explore the lost Nabataean city of Petra as well as Jordan’s biblical and crusader heritage.


    Day 1: Cairo
    Welcome to Egypt. Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your Pyramids area hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure to rest & admire the spectacular Pyramids views from your hotel.

    Day 2: Cairo
    Awake in the shadows of the Pyramids. Today explore the sole survivors of the seven wonders of the Ancient World – the Pyramids and come face to face with the mystical Sphinx. Continue to the ancient capital of Memphis and visit the Step Pyramids of Sakkara. (B)

    Day 3: Cairo – Aswan
    This morning depart Cairo and fly to the natural beauty of Nubian Aswan. Sail in a felucca around the lush islands of Aswan and view the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Relax at the Old Cataract with High Tea overlooking the Nile. Remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

    Day 4: Aswan
    Today board your Nile Cruise ship, your base for the next 3 nights as you journey down the Nile. Visit the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, the High Dam, the Old Dam and the ‘unfinished Obelisk’, lying in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan.     Day 5: Aswan – Kom Ombo – Edfu
    Discover the lifeblood of Egypt as you cruise the Nile visiting Kom Ombo the crocodile inspired temple with its stunning bas reliefs, and the Temple of Horus one of the best preserved temples of the Greco-Roman era. (B,L,D)

    Day 6: Edfu – Luxor
    Leisurely morning cruising to Luxor. This afternoon, visit the magnificent Luxor Temple, built in the 14th century by two kings – Amenophis III and Ramses II. Follow the Avenue of the Sphinx to the Karnak Temple complex and gaze in awe at this imposing monument housing precious relics of Ancient Egyptian dynasties. (B,L,D)

    Day 7: Luxor
    This morning disembark and cross to the West Bank visiting Thebes Necropolis and the burial ground of the Pharaohs – the Valley of the Kings – where Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. Continue to the nearby mortuary temple of Hatchepsut and the Colossi of Memnon facing the Nile. Explore the myriad of tombs and temples dotting the banks of the Nile. Overnight in Luxor. (B)

    Day 8: Luxor – Cairo
    This morning retrace history as you explore Carter’s House. Later, fly to Cairo and embark a foodie tour at Heliapolis. (B,L)

    Day 9: Cairo
    History is brought back to life today on your tour of the Egyptian Museum with your specialist Egyptologist guide. Marvel at the golden treasures of Tutankhamun, including his jewel-encrusted sarcophagus. This afternoon visit Mohammed Ali Mosque & the Citadel dominating Cairo’s skyline. Later, join the hustle and bustle of Khan El Khalili Bazaar. (B)

    Day 10: Cairo – Amman – Dead Sea
    From one ancient civilisation to another. Today fly from Cairo to Amman. Upon arrival transfer to the lowest place on Earth – the Dead Sea; time for floating! (B)

    Day 11: Dead Sea – Petra
    Enter into one of the world’s architectural wonders – the Rose Red City of Petra, hewn out of solid rock by ancient Nabateans. Walk through the Siq, a narrow and winding fissure between the cliffs, to reach the stunning Treasury (El Khazneh) and marvel at the many temples & tombs spread across this immense site, hidden for centuries from the outside world. (B)

    Day 12: Petra
    Spend the day exploring further the wonders of Petra.  This evening join a cooking class at the Petra Kitchen. (B, D)

    Day 13: Petra – Wadi Rum
    Explore the dramatic desert landscape of Wadi Rum by jeep and experience a magical night under the stars in a desert camp. (B)

    Day 14: Wadi Rum – Amman
    Drive along the ‘King’s Highway,’ a scenic and ancient road connecting Red Sea coast to Amman. This is one of the world’s longest used trading routes which passes through the biblical lands of the Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites. Visit Mount Nebo’s ‘Promised Land’ church, the spectacular Holy Land mosaic at Madaba and Kerak’s Crusader Castle. Continue to Amman. (B)

    Day 15: Jerash – Amman
    Step back into antiquity as you explore the incredibly well-preserved city of Jerash. First Greek, then Roman and Byzantine, the legendary Jerash is said to have been founded by Alexander The Great in approximately IV century B.C. Discover the theatre, temples, churches and the arch of triumph before returning to Amman. (B)

    Day 16: Amman
    Departure transfer to the airport. If time allows, visit the brand new Jordan & Royal Automobile Museum. (B)
