Itinerary
Day 1 MESTRE – VENICE – MESTRE
Discover the beauty of the world’s most famous floating island – Venice. To start, we meet and embark on a walking tour, ticking off the major sites before we launch into our first local experience together – participating in a traditional mask decorating course. With free time to explore before the sun dips below the horizon, we meet for dinner at a local trattoria in Mestre. (D)
Day 2 MESTRE – LAKE BLED – LJUBLJANA
As we leave Venice this morning it’s time to look onwards to the next country, Slovenia. We visit Lake Bled and enjoy a boat ride to a small island on the lake to visit The Church of the Assumption. Afterwards, enjoy free time on the lake followed by a visit to Lake Bled Castle. Evening brings us to Ljubljana to enjoy time to yourself. (B)
Day 3 LJUBLJANA – OPATIJA
This morning, we make time for a walking tour of Ljubljana before we carry on to Opatija for a local wine tasting session. This mouth watering experience allows the chance for you to taste wines of the region. This afternoon, we continue our exploration of Opatija on a walking tour before we retire for the night. (B)
Day 4 OPATIJA – MOTOVUN – ROVINJ – OPATIJA
Prepare your tastebuds for an exclusive truffle tasting in Motovun this morning as we meet with a local family and sample one of Istrian’s tastiest treasures. Our next stop is Rovinj, where we stroll along historic streets, soaking up the atmosphere of this sleepy coastal village. Wander the labyrinth of cobbled streets before we meet with unique art galleries and the Basilica of St. Euphemia. (B)
Day 5 OPATIJA – PLITVICE LAKES
Today we discover one of Croatia’s most astounding natural sites: the cascading lakes of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Plitvice National Park. Walking trails hug the lakes, allowing us to journey on foot and watch as the water transforms from emerald green to azure blue. To give this beautiful region the justice of a full day’s exploration, tonight we stay in a nearby town. (B, D)
Day 6 PLITVICE LAKES – SMILJAN – SPLIT
After satisfying our appetite over breakfast, we continue to the town of Smiljan, the birthplace of Nikola Tesla – a famous inventor. As we continue south we enter central Dalmatia where our local host treats us to a homemade lunch filled with Croatian specialties. Before the sun goes down, we reach Split where the night is yours to enjoy. (B, L)
Day 7 SPLIT
To make the most out of our day, we meet after breakfast to embark on a walking tour of Split and to explore Diocletian’s Palace. Split is known for its thriving cafe culture, with countless coffee spots, bars and restaurants welcoming guests long into the evening. Soak it all up before we meet for a farewell cooking class together just outside Split, making it the perfect spot for a final, farewell lunch. (B, L)
