    Experience Queenstown and the Otago Central Rail Trail with 2 nights in Queenstown and a 3-day independent cycle adventure on the Rail Trail. Cycling is on a vehicle free trail with an easy gradient and approximately 40-60kms each day. Ride over viaducts, through tunnels, and enjoy amazing scenery whilst soaking up the ambience of historic hotels. Enjoy wonderful local cuisine and meet some local characters. There are optional activities in which you can participate along the way including curling in Naseby, 4WD tours, a river cruise and more.

    Itinerary

    DAY 1 ARRIVE AT QUEENSTOWN
    On arrival, meet your Super Shuttle driver so they can take you to your accommodation. Oaks Club Resort offers stunning lake views and is only a 25-minute walk from Queenstown centre.The rest of the day is free to immerse yourself in Queenstown’s beauty.

    DAY 2 QUEENSTOWN TO LAUDER
    Your adventure starts in Queenstown where you will be picked up by shuttle from your accommodation at 8.30am. Take a scenic trip though to Clyde where you will be fitted with your bikes & briefed on your tour. Then it’s off on your ride to Lauder cycling past vineyards and over an old wooden trestle bridge on the ride to Chatto Creek. Distance: 43kms

    DAY 3 LAUDER TO OTUREHUA
    From Lauder you begin one of the most spectacular sections of the trail, the Poolburn Gorge. This is home to the rare New Zealand Falcon. Travel through two tunnels and across the 37m high Poolburn Viaduct, through the Ida Valley and onto Oturehua where the guide will meet you for a transfer into Naseby for lunch (additional cost) and to try your hand at curling – laughter will abound. Once you’ve finished curling you’ll be transferred to Waipiata to your night’s accommodation and a great meal at the local tavern (additional cost).  Distance: 22.5kms (B)

    DAY 4 WAIPIATA TO HYDE
    From Waipiata you cycle through to Hyde following the Taieri River. The highlight of the day is the lovely trail section between Daisybank and Hyde – you’ll snake around the Rock and Pillar Range, crossing the Capburn Bridge, the Price’s Creek Viaduct which is 32m high and the last tunnel which is 152m long before you arrive in Hyde to meet your guide for transport back to Clyde, then onwards to Queenstown.     DAY 5 DEPART QUEENSTOWN
    Today you have free time for some last minute shopping before your return transfer.
