You will be met at your accommodation by your guide for your shared small group hike of Mount Tarawera. Experience the unique landscape and history of Mount Tarawera. Infamous for its eruption on June 10th, 1886, Mt Tarawera created the world’s youngest geothermal valley of Waimangu, at the same destroying the legendary Pink and White Terraces. This fully guided walking experience encompasses the unique landscape and history of the area. Your journey begins with an off road 4WD experience through native New Zealand bush, transporting you to the craters edge. With unmatched scenic vistas and 360 panoramic views this experience is ideal for all ages and includes an optional run in to the heart of the volcanic crater. You will be returned to your accommodation on conclusion of the excursion (approximately 4 hours 30 minutes duration).

New Zealand’s most colourful geothermal attraction just a short drive from Rotorua. An area in which the landscape has been sculptured by geothermal activity and where unique volcanic features can be viewed from well-defined tracks. Named as “One of the 20 Most Surreal Places in the World”, thousands of years in the making, visitors can choose one or all of three walks which take between 45 and 90 minutes. Unique features include the world-famous Champagne Pool, naturally coloured springs, bubbling mud, steaming ground, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters and sinter terrace formations. The natural bush setting adds another dimension to the experience as does the Lady Knox Geyser which erupts daily at 10.15 am to heights of up to 20 meters.

Relax and unwind on the tranquil shores of Lake Rotorua at Polynesian Spa – a world-leading, natural mineral bathing and luxury spa retreat.  Channelling geothermal marvels in its backyard, the 28 mineral pools at Polynesian Spa are fed from two natural springs for a combination that both nourishes the skin and relieves tired muscles, aches and pains.
