We’re really excited by Air New Zealand’s announcement that from October 2020 they are launching a year round, non-stop 3 x weekly service between Auckland and New York (Newark) operated by a 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. At a flight time of 15hr 40m northbound and 17hr 40m southbound, the 14,178 kilometre route will be Air New Zealand’s longest and the fifth longest in the world by distance. New York is an amazing city; Manhattan really is the ‘World on one island’ and the Discover Travel team have all been many times.
Air New Zealand has made the difficult decision to withdraw the daily Los Angeles-London (NZ1/2) service from October 2020. We have many clients confused as to where Air New Zealand actually fly to in Europe, as there’s a perception that they fly to many destinations other than London. These other services are actually all operated by partner airlines. From October 2020, it will be simple – they won’t fly to Europe at at all, however, Air New Zealand customers will be able to travel year-round between Auckland and London with partner airlines operating the onward flights from 12 gateways in Asia and the Americas, including New York. We’ll help you construct an airfare to Europe with interesting stopovers in each direction!
