Emirates A380s are now flying between Christchurch and Dubai daily with the commencement of services on the airline’s double-decker flagship aircraft. The new service removes of the en-route stop in Bangkok so passengers now travel all the way from Christchurch to Dubai with just one stop in Sydney.
Peter and Ian had a walk-through of the new aircraft before her maiden flight from Christchurch on Monday 31st October and were very impressed. There’s plenty of legroom in the huge downstairs economy cabin, the seats seemed a little wider and the seat back TV sets were larger and more high-definition than before. There’s also greater ‘head’ room with the overhead luggage lockers cleverly recessed to create more space.
The real fun starts in business & first class upstairs though, which is fantastic – check out the bar at the rear of the aircraft for Business and First Class and the shower room exclusively for First Class passengers.
We think this is a real ‘game-changer’ for Christchurch travellers – we’re the smallest city in the world to have this Emirates’ aircraft, which is a real vote of confidence in the South Island and means we we can now enjoy travel all the way to Europe on this iconic plane. Enjoy!
