Happy Canterbury Anniversary Day!
Earlier this week, we marked a remarkable 600 days since NZ closed its borders to the world and it has certainly been a interesting time for your friendly local travel agent ever since!
Since March 2020 we’ve worked tirelessly to chase millions of dollars of refunds for our customers, and have completed that mammoth task. We’ve rebooked many holidays to 2022 or 2023 and are continuing to manage over 400 travel credits with a large number of airlines & tour and cruise operators until these can be redeemed.
We’ve organised holidays for many of our clients within NZ and (briefly) to the Cook Islands and Australia. We’ve also repatriated foreign travellers to their home countries and brought many Kiwis home.
As we near Christmas, and with several Australian states already reopening their borders it’s looking increasingly likely that NZ will move away from the MIQ lottery to self-isolation at home for international travellers. As we seem destined to become one of the most vaccinated countries in the world, we’re also hopeful that fully vaccinated travellers will be able to avoid quarantine altogether when travelling to and from many low risk countries by the second quarter of 2022.
Obviously, the next step is for our Govt to confirm this and then for international airlines to recommit to their NZ schedules, so watch this space!
THE COOK ISLANDS ARE REOPENING 14 JAN 2022
Between May & August this year, we arranged holidays for many clients to the beautiful Cook Islands, so we were delighted to see that the Cooks are re-opening for two-way quarantine-free travel for fully vaccinated travellers aged over 12yrs from 14 Jan 2022.
We can usually hold Air NZ flights for you for up to a week and in many cases, accommodation too, giving us time to plan your perfect island escape.
Our colleagues at House of Travel have put together this selection of tempting offers for Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Packages including return airfares from Christchurch to Rarotonga, return airport transfers and 5 nights at the first class Pacific Resort with breakfast and a $250 resort credit start at $1979 per person. Please contact us to book.
EUROPE IN 2022
Demand for travel from NZ to Europe in 2022 is certainly growing on the expectation of quarantine free travel resuming. With the majority of the EU now able to travel freely, and 2 years of pent-up demand to fulfill, we’re anticipating a busy year in Europe, so if you have plans to travel next year, perhaps utilising a travel credit you may have, please get in touch with Peter.
