Colette and I met 26 years ago in Christchurch while Colette was here on her OE, having completed her Ceramics and Design degree in Scotland. We’re both avid fans of an active outdoor lifestyle and enjoy running, cycling and kayaking and have competed in the Coast to Coast race twice. With so much of what we enjoy within easy reach of our city, Colette needed little convincing in calling Christchurch home and raising a family here. Our daughter Karina, 24, is currently in Vienna completing her Masters in Environmental Engineering and Ecology; while Ben, 22, who we all agree has the best view from his office, works at Ocean’s Cafe in Scarborough.
Our shared passion for travel and adventure takes us both far and wide. My longstanding career in the travel industry spanned 20 years and included ownership of a reputable travel agency in Shirley, allowing us to visit over 55 countries, and yet counting! Stand-out memories aplenty, our most recent favourites include a 2-week road trip around Louisiana, USA, while closer to home, riding our Royal Enfield touring bikes around Skippers Canyon, the scene of our honeymoon bungy jump 25 years ago, which made for a very special return. And who could ever tire of watching the sunrise over Aoraki Mt Cook, especially from our tent at the side of Lake Pukaki!
Colette and I are very proud to be part of the Discover Travel family and when we’re not travelling, you’ll find us at Riccarton Bush – Christchurch Farmers’ Market, selling beeswax food wraps. Yes, we are beekeepers as well and maintaining our 30 beehives is great fun. When next at the market, please do stop by. We look forward to meeting you.
