    Day 2 – 13 September 2021

After breakfast today you will set out on foot to the All-Black’s Experience to kick off your day. The All-Black Experience is a state-of-the-art guided encounter that showcases the All Blacks, and our national teams in black, through exceptional innovation and technology. This full sensory and interactive experience allows New Zealanders and international visitors to celebrate New Zealand’s rugby heritage, achievements, and culture.

After saying goodbye to The All-Blacks Experience, the group will head through the western suburbs of Auckland to the Riverhead Tavern for lunch. The Riverhead is New Zealand’s oldest riverside tavern. With over 150 years of history as a house of refreshment, you will have a chance to visit The Portage Bar which is home to a classic kiwi neighbourhood bar environment. On the walls of the Portage bar, you will find a homage to The Riverheads history on the walls. The Landing specialises in premium pub fare with a sophisticated edge, which perfectly showcases the down-to-earth charm of this rural dining establishment.

After Lunch you will head further west to Muriwai Beach Gannet colony. The Gannets return from Australia each year during the months of July and October where they establish contact with their lifelong mates. Enjoy a short coastline walk to the viewing platforms which provide excellent vantage points of the Gannets.

You will return to your coach and travel back to your Auckland hotel where you will get a short rest before dinner at a local Restaurant this evening.

    Day 3 – 14 September 2021

Following breakfast this morning, depart Auckland and travel north stopping first at the Kauri Museum at Matakohe. The award-winning Kauri Museum tells the story of the Kauri tree and the people who developed industries to harvest the rich resources of our ancient Kauri forests.

Experience the Kauri story of the past, understand its present and be part of the Kauri tree’s future.

After leaving the museum the road north takes us through the Waipoua Forest.  The Waipoua and the Adjoining Mataraua and Waima, make up the largest remaining tract of native forest in Northland.  It is home to the famous Lord of the Forest – Tane Mahuta, a Kauri tree estimated to be between 1500 and 2500 years old.

After visiting Tane Mahuta you will continue east along the Hokianga Harbour through to Paihia in the Bay of Islands, your home for the next three nights. Upon arrival you will check in to the Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Paihia located in the heart of the township and just a few minutes’ walk to the wharf area.  Dinner will be included at the hotel tonight.

Stay 3 nights at the Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Paihia.

    Day 4 – 15 September

Included today after breakfast is a full day tour to Cape Reinga, at the very top of New Zealand.  View the varying and beautiful landscape of Northland, rolling rural hills and breathtaking coastal scenery.  Drive along the shores of Ninety Mile beach on a custom-built coach and stop next to giant sand dunes while travelling up Te Paki stream.  Time is given at Cape Reinga to visit the light house and take that iconic photo of the signposts pointing out international locations around the world.

Throughout the day an enjoyable tour commentary offering local insight, extensive historical knowledge, and fantastic sense of humour to create an unforgettable day will be included.

Upon your return to Paihia you will take a short walk to a local restaurant for dinner.

    Day 5 – 16 September

After breakfast, this morning, join a cruise through the many islands of the Bay and out as far as Cape Brett – where weather permitting the boat will cruise through the famous ‘hole in the rock’ at Piercy Island. Your cruise will stop in Russel giving you the chance to spend some time in the nation’s first capital.  Your Hole in the Rock cruise includes a return ticket on the Russel – Paihia ferry, so you can spend your afternoon in this quaint settlement once known as the hell hole of the South Pacific.

Tonight, you will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

    Day 6 – 17 September

After breakfast you will say goodbye to Paihia and head to Kerikeri where you will visit the famous Stone Store, one of New Zealand’s oldest buildings dating back to 1832. After your stop in Kerikeri you will head to Whangarei, the largest city in Northland where you will have time for lunch (at own expense) and a look around the revitalised town basin. After lunch you will continue your trip south over the Brynderwyn Hills to Auckland.

On arrival back to Auckland you will again check into the Sudima Auckland City Hotel where you will enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant tonight.

Stay 2 night at Sudima Auckland City.

    Day 7 – 18 September

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning before heading to the Auckland ferry terminal for your day trip to Waiheke Island. Relax on your 45-minute ferry ride to Matiatia Wharf where you will be met by your Island transport for the day. Enjoy a hop on hop off bus tour around the island, where you will have the chance to stop at one of 16 stops around the island. Your bus route will give you the chance to visit some of the island’s top vineyards, restaurants, shops, art galleries, beaches, and nature walks. Your coach includes a running commentary and local tips from your on-board island host. Your return ferry will depart Waiheke late afternoon, returning you to the Auckland waterfront in time to see the last of the day prior to a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

After dinner, your evening is at leisure, you can either join the group transfer back to the hotel or spend your last night in Auckland exploring the Viaduct Basin and surrounds.
