Discover Southern India’s Kerala region with it’s multicultural heritage, forts, palaces and serene backwaters, on this cultural highlights tour with a foodie focus. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to try delicious Keralan cuisine, with cookery classes and demonstrations at a homestay and on a houseboat, along with visits to spice gardens and tea plantations.

Kochi – Explore Fort Kochi, the oldest European settlement in India, with a mixture of English, Dutch and Portuguese influences

Immersive introduction to South Indian food – Try Sadya cuisine, a traditional thali lunch and delicious street food snacks

Backwaters houseboat – Stay on a traditional houseboat and float along the peaceful backwaters. Cook up a fish curry or vegetarian dish on board

Dedicated vegetarian departures – on 21 October and 25 November 2023

Itinerary

Itineraries on some departure dates may differ.

DAY 1 – Join trip in Kochi
DAY 2 – Full day exploring Fort Kochi. Mattancherry Palace, Chinese fishing nets, Sadya lunch, harbour cruise and Kathakali performance
DAY 3 – Breakfast dosa making demonstration. Drive to the spice and tea plantations to Munnar, experiencing a traditional thali lunch en-route
DAY 4 – Full day in Munnar, visit the tea estates
DAY 5 – Drive to Thekkady. Farm to plate spice garden tour
DAY 6 – Homestay visit. Cookery class, village walk and toddy tapping demonstration
DAY 7 – Board a houseboat and float through the backwaters. On board cooking demonstration
DAY 8 – Morning in the backwaters, return to Kochi for lunch and a free afternoon
DAY 9 – Trip ends Kochi
