    Tue 30: Auckland > Dubai Overnight flight to Dubai.

    Wed 31: Dubai > Milan > Lake Como (D) Transit to onward flight. On arrival in Milan we transfer an hour to Como and check in to our hotel in the old town near the lake.

    August 2019

    Thu 01 & Fri 02: Lake Como (B) Ferry passes are included so we can explore the lake, historical villages, villas and palaces.

    Sat 03: Como > Santa Margherita Ligure (B,D) Drive south through the Ligurian countryside to the Italian Riviera, the perfect base to explore the Cinque Terre.

    Sun 04: Cinque Terre (B,L) Today our guide will show us around the beautiful villages of the Cinque Terre. Colourful houses and ancient vineyards cling to steep terraces, fishing boats bob in harbours and trattorias serve seafood specialties.

    Mon 05: Portofino (B,L) Visit Portofino, a picturesque town set upon the turquoise sea. Today we enjoy a special farmhouse picnic of local delicacies like extra virgin olive oil, homemade jams and focaccia.

    Tue 06: Santa Margherita Ligure > Venice (B,D) Drive to Venice. On arrival we travel by private water taxi to our hotel. This evening, we dine on the terrace of a private Gothic palace.

    Wed 07: Venice (B,D) Enjoy a walking tour to see Renaissance and Gothic palaces surrounding the charming Grand Canal, finishing our tour with a gondola ride. This afternoon we board our ship ms Veendam.

    Thu 08: Split (B,L,D) Croatia’s second-biggest city oozes small-town charm. Do try and include Diocletian’s Palace during your stop here today.

    Fri 09: Dubrovnik (B,L,D) Visit the ‘Jewel of the Adriatic’ on the Dalmatian Coast, rich in Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture, encircled by 14th century walls and massive guard towers.

    Sat 10: Kerkira, Nisos Kerkira (Corfu) (B,L,D) In Corfu, vineyards and olive groves thrive amid the rocky mountainsides. On this Greek island we’ll see horse drawn carriages leading tours of the Liston, a galleria of open-air cafes and alluring shops.

    Sun 11: Katakolon (B,L,D) Katakolon is the perfect gateway for Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

    Mon 12: Souda (Chania) (B,L,D) Today we stop in the port for Chania, Crete. Perhaps explore the restored 500-year-old lighthouse, the tangle of streets that is Old Town or stop at one of the many outdoor cafés.

    Tue 13: Kusadasi (Ephesus) (B,L,D) From Kusadasi you may choose to visit the mighty ancient city of Ephesus, once so wealthy its Temple of Artemis was the largest on earth and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

    Wed 14: At Sea (B,L,D) A day at leisure on our ship as we sail toward Malta.

    Thu 15: Valletta (Malta) (B,L,D) The ancient city of Valletta is teeming with historic churches, monuments and gardens.

    Fri 16: Mgarr, Gozo (Malta) (B,L,D) Standing atop the island of Gozo is a medieval citadel marking the spot where settlers lived as far back as the Bronze Age.

    Sat 17: Palermo (Sicily) (B,L,D) Perhaps visit the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, or explore the attractions in historic neighbourhoods such as the Arab district of La Kalsa, home to the finery-filled Palazzo Mirto.

    Sun 18: Naples (B,L,D) We arrive in a great cultural centre, filled with extraordinary classical Greek and Roman architecture. Perhaps take a short drive to visit Pompeii, a buried Roman city.

    Mon 19: Rome (B,L,D) Rome is awash with world-famous churches, monuments and fountains: the Colosseum, Sistine Chapel, Vatican City, the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

    Tue 20: Livorno (Pisa/Florence) (B,L,D) The port city of Livorno is the gateway to Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

    Wed 21: Monte Carlo (B,L,D) The jet set principality of Monaco is the essence of the Riviera; couture fashion, grand yachts and nightlife centred around its famed Casino.

    Thu 22: Barcelona (B,L,D) Arrive in Barcelona, an enchanting seaside city with Gaudi’s splendid Modernista architecture and the lively Las Ramblas promenade.

    Fri 23: At Sea (B,L,D)

    Sat 24: Malaga (B,L,D) Perhaps visit the museum devoted to one of the city’s most famous sons, Pablo Picasso, or wander the pedestrianised historic centre filled with shoppers, diners and musicians.

    Sun 25: Gibraltar (B,L,D) Spend the morning in Gibraltar’s densely populated streets, or try to catch a glimpse of the famous Barbary Macaques who inhabit ‘the Rock’.

    Mon 26: Lisbon (B) Disembark the ship this morning and transfer to our hotel. This afternoon is at leisure.

    Tue 27: Sintra & Estoril Coast (B,D) Walk past the quaint handicraft and traditional pastry shops of Sintra before continuing to the 19th century Pena Palace. A fun and authentic farewell dinner is planned this evening.

    Wed 28: Lisbon > Dubai (B) Evening flight to Dubai.

    Thu 29 & Fri 30: Dubai > Auckland Arrive in Dubai and transit to our onward flight. Morning arrival in Auckland.
