Cheese tasting at the Alpine Dairy Museum
The four rooms of the museum in Bohinj – once a cheese dairy itself – contain a mock-up of a mid 19th century herder’s cottage, old photographs, cheese presses, wooden butter moulds, copper vats, enormous snowshoes and sledges, and wonderful hand carved shepherds’ crooks.
Visit the 15th century Ljubljana Castle
Take the funicular up to Ljubljana Castle for magnificent views across the city and the Alps.
Wander the narrow cobbled streets of Piran
Piran was once an important medieval town on the tip of the Istrian Peninsula. Wander through the atmospheric town with its Venetian Gothic architecture.

Arrive Dubai and take connecting flight to Venice. We transfer by private water taxi to our hotel.
Mon 15: Venice (B,D)\
Enjoy a walking tour of Venice, we will visit St Mark’s Square and the Doge’s Palace – two important landmarks of the city. Afternoon at leisure and enjoy a welcome dinner this evening.
Tues 16: Venice > Postojna > Ljubljana (B)
Today we cross the border into Slovenia and visit the wonderful subterranean world of Postojna Cave. Photo stop at Predjama castle and continue to Ljubljana for a walking tour of the picturesque open-air Central Market, the Triple Bridge, Town Hall and Robba Fountain.
Wed 17: Bled & Bohinj (B)
Visit the charming town of Bled and see imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. Visit Bohinj for a museum visit and cheese tasting. Return to Ljubljana.
Thu 18: Ljubljana > Zagreb (B)
Today we drive towards Zagreb. Visit the historic Upper Town, full of charm. Everywhere there are traces of the city’s turbulent past. Visit St Mark’s Church, St Catherine’s Church, the Cathedral and Presidential Palace.
Fri 19: Zagreb > Plitvice > Split (B)
Travel south to the famous Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk around the lower lakes and see the 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains. Afterwards, continue to Split.
Sat 20: Split (B,D)
Morning at leisure before transferring to our ship to check in. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of Split before the captain’s reception on board this evening.
Sun 21: Split > Korcula (B,L)
Morning departure for Korcula, best known as the birthplace of Marco Polo. Stop for lunch in one of the secluded bays en route. Arrive in Korcula in the early afternoon for a guided walking tour of this enchanting town.
Mon 22: Korcula > Mljet > Dubrovnik (B,L,D)
Head further south to the island of Mljet. Visit the famous salt lakes in Mljet National Park and take a boat ride to St. Mary Isle to visit an ancient monastery, an old abbey and a church from the 12th century. Alternatively, you can rent kayaks, bicycles, scooters or convertible cars to explore on your own. Return to the ship for lunch and depart for Dubrovnik, where we will cruise alongside the old city walls before docking.
Tue 23: Dubrovnik (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the old town for a guided walking tour. Take the cable car to Srd mountain for stunning views over the city. The afternoon is at leisure.
Wed 24: Dubrovnik > Peljesac Peninsula (B,L,D)
Early morning departure towards the Peljesac peninsula, well known for its excellent wine. Before lunch, stop at one of the Elaphiti Islands. Once we get to the peninsula we travel inland to explore rural Croatia. Visit a local farm and indulge in a typical village party with local dishes for dinner.
Thu 25: Peljesac Peninsula > Hvar (B,L)
This morning, depart for Hvar. Stop for lunch on the small island of Scedro, and enjoy a swim stop at the Pakleni Islands. In the afternoon, arrive in Hvar, an island known for its pretty lavender fields and historical landmarks. Perhaps hike up to the town fort for some lovely scenic views.
Fri 26: Hvar > Bol (B,L,D)
Our final stop will be in Bol, a picturesque fishing town on the island of Brac. Walk along the promenade or swim at one of the most famous beaches in this part of the world – Zlatni Rat (also known as the “golden horn”). After lunch, enjoy time at leisure until an afternoon wine tasting followed by the captain’s farewell dinner with live entertainment on board.
Sat 27: Bol > Split > Opatija (B)
Depart for Split this morning. After disembarking, travel north along the Adriatic coast to Opatija, a resort town popular with the Habsburgs in the 19th century. Stroll the elegant promenade before dinner in a local restaurant.
Sun 28: Istrian Peninsula (B)
Today we visit the Istrian peninsula, often referred to as the “Tuscany of Croatia”. In Pula, visit a 2,000 year old Roman colosseum and stroll the cobbled streets to see the town’s historic monuments. Afterwards, head to Motovun, a fortified hilltop town surrounded by vineyards. Stop at a local family owned estate for a truffle tasting. Return to Opatija.
Mon 29: Opatija > Piran > Venice (B)
After breakfast we travel to Piran. Explore the narrow, cobbled streets of the once very important medieval town on the tip of the peninsula. Our final destination on this day is Venice.
Tue 30: Venice > Dubai (B)
Fly to Dubai and transfer to our hotel for a few hours rest.
Wed 01: Dubai > Auckland
Connect to our onward flight travelling overnight.
Thu 02: Auckland
Arrival in Auckland.
