Small Group Discovery

Travel to the heart of Australia and experience Aboriginal culture, desert adventures and the ever-changing colours of Uluru on this 6-day escorted tour. Starting in Alice Springs, you’ll travel south through the Red Centre, stopping overnight in Alice Springs, Kings Canyon and Uluru.

You’ll learn all about local Aboriginal culture on this tour. Enjoy a guided walk with a local Indigenous guide at Alice Springs as they teach you about local geology, flora, fauna, bush medicine and tukka, weaponry and cultural history specific to the site; Travel to Kings Canyon, where a local guide will take you on the incredible Kings Canyon Rim Walk; and, follow the path to the base of Uluru with your local guide, where they’ll show you ancient Aboriginal Rock paintings and tell you their stories and historic significance.

Travel through extraordinary landscapes of desert plains, weathered mountain ranges and rocky gorges. Stand in awe of the majestic Uluru as the sun sets beyond; and, rise early to see the sunrise over Uluru, before going on a guided walk at Kata Tjuta.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN ALICE SPRINGS
Welcome to central Australia! Schedule flights to arrive by 4 pm in time for a welcome meeting and drinks.

DAY 2: ALICE SPRINGS
ALICE SPRINGS Guided sightseeing includes a visit to Standley Chasm with a local indigenous guide, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and the School of the Air. Lunch and a (Local Favourite) tasting at the Alice Springs Brewing Co. Remainder of the day is at leisure. (B,L)

DAY 3: ALICE SPRINGS – KINGS CANYON
KINGS CANYON Sightseeing including the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, sunset drinks on the Lodge’s patio followed by a special barbecue dinner. DAY 4: KINGS CANYON – ULURU
ULURU Guided walk at Mutitjulu Waterhole with the chance to discover Aboriginal rock paintings and learn their significance. Enjoy drinks and nibbles as you watch the sunset over “the Rock.” Visit the amazing art installation of (Local Favourite) Field of Light. (B)

DAY 5: ULURU
ULURU Rise and shine for sunrise over Uluru. Later, a walk at the 36 unique domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Afternoon at leisure. This evening, your Tour Director hosts a festive farewell as you experience (Local Favourite) the Sounds of Silence experience. Enjoy canapes and chilled sparkling wine overlooking Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park as the sun sets. Then sit down for an unforgettable dining experience. After dinner, settle back and listen to the resident star talker decode the southern night sky. The perfect ending to your holiday!
