I joined Peregrine Adventures on a 10 night journey from Longyerbyen return aboard the Akademik Sergei Vavilov with 64 other passengers. We explored incredible terrain and I have to say this is a fantastic way to see some incredible wildlife in their natural habitat.
We have just had 2 of the most amazing day’s wildlife viewing ever; we have seen polar bears, walruses, arctic fox, 4 different species of whale and the most amazing array of birdlife. The Zodiac cruises enabled us to get right up close to things and thankfully, the glass like conditions meant that taking photos was much easier than it could have been.
Svalbard has everything, the wildlife, the history, majestic glaciers and rugged landscapes. It might not be your first choice of destination, but it should be your next choice!
