Discovering the World once again

Just like many of our clients, the Discover Travel team have been exploring the world again during the winter.

Ian and Janine have now returned from hosting successful escorted journeys to Svalbard and Southern Africa respectively, with plenty of great photographs, stories and happy memories.

Peter has been enjoying the sunshine in Hawaii, Linda has been exploring some ‘secret spots’ in California and Juliet’s recently returned from an idyllic island holiday in beautiful Samoa.

To see and here more from our recent travels, follow us on Facebook or Instagram and keep an eye on the Travel Journals section on our website.

We have sent a lot of clients to Europe during May & June, and it’s great to hear the feedback that travel now feels very ‘normal’ again with the airport issues of last year now largely resolved. Flights are very full, but airlines and airports have had extra time to work on their processes. It’s noticeable that air travel has become much more automated and almost entirely digital since travel has resumed; with check-in now mostly done online or via airport kiosks and travel through airports done through automated gates by swiping boarding passes. Ian reported that he took 11 flights to/from and around Europe without once talking to a human at an airport! We’d recommend downloading airline apps before travel to receive boarding passes and flight updates.

We also have a lot of travellers departing to Europe in September/October, some for the Rugby World Cup, so our team are now busy preparing final travel documents for that second wave of travellers!

If you are wishing you had gotten organised sooner and are now struggling through the coldest months here, don’t worry – it’s not too late to plan a trip in 2023.

Flight availability is pretty tight, but airfares are still reasonable to North America in particular, and we are still planning Europe trips for clients keen to travel in the September/October period when the crowds and heat will have abated.

If you would like to join an fully escorted tour from NZ later this year or early 2024, our friends at World Journeys and Maher Tours still have a few last spots left on their tours to South America in August, the Mediterranean in September, Egypt & Jordan in October or cruising the Australian Coast at Christmas.

GRAND TOUR OF SOUTH AMERICA  |  34 days  Departing 27 August 2023

BEST OF THE MED   |  25 Days  |  Departing 11 September

PETRA TO THE PYRAMIDS  |  25 Days  Departing 12 October

CHRISTMAS CRUISING IN AUSTRALIA | 19 Days | Departing 18 December

If you are interested, please let us know ASAP as we anticipate all of these will be sold out soon.

Flights are now open to book for up to late June 2024, so if you have a trip to Europe planned for the first half of next year, get in touch with your favourite Discover Travel consultant to secure good fares whilst they are still available.

It’s great to see that the more ‘adventure’ travel destinations like Africa, South America and the Polar Regions are now back in strong demand. These are the ‘bucket list’ destinations where it definitely pays to book early, so if you’ve been dreaming of something really special over the last couple of years spent at home, now’s the time to contact us.

Happy Travels!
